How to get your little red ethics book

So here’s the deal…

A few weeks ago I posted A Designer’s Code of Ethics.

The good people at Scout Books reached out and said, “Hey, let’s make a book!” So we partnered on this thing. And now I have 500 of them and we’re giving them away. Because we want you to have them.

If you are a student or just starting out:

Send a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) to: Mule Design, 80 Fresno St., SF CA 94133. (For those of you born after the golden age of ordering Sea Monkeys through the mail, this means you send me an envelope and inside that envelope is another envelope addressed to yourself with a stamp already on it. BTW, an A4 envelope is perfect. Yes, you’re gonna have to go buy a stamp. Some ATMs sells stamps. Put a couple of stamps on the envelope addressed to you.)

If you’re outside the US, where US stamps are hard to come by, put your email in the envelope and I’ll tell you what the postage is once I know. Or send me a fridge magnet or something.

If you think these are so cool that you feel the need to give me money, donate it to the ACLU, the SPLC, or the charity of your choice instead. They need it more than I do.

If I’m headed to your town to do a workshop or conference I’ll have some on me.

I’ll be giving these out as long as I have them.

If you are an organization, or company, or not people:

If you want a bunch, for a class, or business, or a company, or studio, or whatnot, I made you a website where you can order them. (These are not the ones we did for free with Scout Books. This is a second batch. And we’re charging you money so we can make a third and fourth batch. Yes, your organization’s purchase is subsidizing the ones I give away to students and young designers. Deal with it.)

We also have some nice posters for sale:

Told you they were nice. Buy some.

And seriously, thanks for wanting one. It means a lot that there’s an interest in this stuff. Especially right now. Thinking about this stuff is one of the ways we can help to make the world more decent.

Just to be clear, the text in the book is the same as the text in the essay. Plus a few really good quotes like this one:

And thanks again to Scout Books for making this happen. If you need little books printed up they’re the place to go. Good quality. Good service. Good prices. Damn nice people.
